wow I suck

I am so terrible at updating here. I don't mean to slack it just happens.
let's see. lots of knitting going on around here. not a lot of seaming and or finishing though.
have the blue ribbed sweater from vintage knits done... and in pieces.
have made 1 mohair tube, and am in the process of a 2nd (for kendra's wedding, as a nice gifty) plus a thinner one from the score of sale mohair at yarn over marblehead this summer. nice limey greenness.
plus 1 shedir got finished and dropped at seed stitch for the hat tree, another one is 1/2 done and is for ME!
the Anya sweater is 1/2? done in that the front is finished, the back is almost complete and the sleeves need knitting. and then dreaded seaming. hopefully this can be done before the 11/30 hope for photos to send to Jo Sharp.
oh and I need to make a stocking for my sister for christmas. or well for her apt for christmas since she doesn't want to take her one from home to NYC.
got the yarn for that last night. :)
I think that's all the knitting excitement. oh! save winnie's baby blanket. that got done within days of the shower and she loved it. and it made my day that the 1st pics we saw of beth some of them had her in her blankie. :) so so so cool.

ok must find food. I'm at work and so I want to make this quick. but I am alive (for those few people who read this) just a lazy bum when it comes to the knitting journal.

we will not discuss the disappointing sox season. injuries did a number and it was a bummer. I have hope for 2007, esp if they keep people I want. Resign Gonzo and keep the Trot! (ok the trot thing doesn't really have merit since he's injury prone but I adore him and want him here anyways. it's more fun with him around)

seriously. lunch. and now that I've successfully remembered my password maybe this whole updating thing will happen more often?
we can only dream.

feeling the slacker

not on the actual knitting spectrum but on the posting end. it's been far too long since I've posted here. the shapely tank got finished, and gifted to Chrissy since it was a bit too large for me and the idea of ripping it all out was not a desirable thing. It fit Chrissy perfect so why not!
I've also almost finished a test pattern for a tank top on the knitting livejournal, just working on the straps, and the main commitment of life at present is my baby blanket for Winnie. Her shower is on the 22nd and I'd really like to finish it before then.
plus I've made 3 of the petal bibs from one skein. 2 were at the request of Melissa (which I still need to actually GIVE her) for her new baby cousins and one was for Becca's little girl (born just 12 days ago!)
I've also added rather than subtracted to the stash with some loverly mohair and other fun things snagged at yarn over marblehead and knit/purl. Autumn loves to poke fun at the stash. what can I say, I'm eclectic on my purchases, hers tends to be smaller and just all sock yarns.

so I'll try and get better at this and update more as things get finished.... promise!

after the disaster of orangina I moved on to the shapely tank. And it is completed. ok not totally since that evil thing known as seaming needs to be done. but the knitting part is done.
and I made a petal bib from One Skein and it's soooo adorable!
it's for one of melissa's 2 new baby cousins. I have another to cast on and make which I will hopefully start soon. maybe friday? I am meeting chrissy and her mom and sissypoo tomorrow night and I'd sort of promised lace I'd go see her boy's play thursday.
so knitting must be post poned a few days. well petal bibs at least since they involve some concentration. I need to make at least 1 more for mel, and then if I have time before the 20th I want to make one in pink for becca's shower. I also have a skein of natural colored cotton to make either the baby bolero or the baby kimono sweater....
which I would like to start in time for the shower....

gosh! there's lots to do. I don't feel so accomplished anymore....

ok to bed with me... allergies have been kicking my butt and I need some rest!
go sox! let's hope they can keep this up tomorrow with schill on the hill. 14-3 is a very nice score.....

I admit defeat

orangina has bested me. to the best of my skills I seem destined to not be able to knit more than an inch or two of sucessful repeats before the big screw up occurs.
I have decided to forgo my KAL and start something else, if for no other reason than to remind myself that I am intellegent, can read patterns and can actually make something without wanting to toss it across the room.
so instead we are working on the shapely tank in the lovely cactus flower shaded Flash I got at the classic elite warehouse sale. As well the rose colored Cascade 220 I ordered from ebay arrived today so I may make verison 2.0 of the cabled pullover. I like how the original purple came out but there are a few modifications I'd like to attempt, one of which is lengthing the body so that it's not the crop top the first one seems to be.
Kendra was over earlier and said if I write out what I want and buy the materials we can probably convince her dad to construct me a blocking board.
I still think ply wood with cork board on it, plus some fabric to cover the possible stains that could bleed up from either wood or cork would rock my socks. I could even put a layer of batting between the cork and the fabric to really bulk it and make it nice and pin friendly.
She also said maybe having it be 2 pieces that fold would be good since then it can be long if it needs it, and shorter if not.... I like the thinkings... people let's talk since I'd like to brainstorm more before committing to commissioning mr soule to make me something :)
I have lost one of my blue inca alpaca wristwarmers. I do not know where or how... it makes me sad. but I do have some more yarn left over so I can make another one... but I really wonder where it could have gone.
alas..... it was more sad how I discovered it since I was in need of using them in my office when I noticed it was missing :(
ok I think I'm going to crash. the red sox are sucking the life out of me. or I'm just tired and want to try and sleep early for once. or maybe I'll knit some more of the tank top... we'll see!

orangina update

orangina has not been my best friend so far. I finally got the yarn and once the cabled sweater was done being knitted (blocking and seaming still to come) I set about starting.
and that's when the trouble began.
I could not locate any wooden (bamboo or otherwise) size 3 circs so I gave in and got some inox metal since my sock needles are inox so I figured it would be ok.
umm no.
well not totally true. they seem to be fine needles. but me and cotton and them are really having serious issues.
it took forever for me to get the pattern down enough to swatch and then let's not talk about the amt of restarts since casting on the required 112 stitches.
but for now I finally have about 2" of the pattern down on the needles. 3 reps so far and no issues this time. but this is take #6? so it could get worse.

I will need Chrissy to remind me how to make lifelines so I can do that going forward. I think I will cry if I have to frog it again.

ok so I am going to go find a bit of food and then maybe even knit at my desk for a bit. It's friday. it's a calm day so I may take advantage and slack a bit. just a wee bit. since next week will be another killer week since it's almost time to start month end again!

getting closer

I have ordered my yarn for the orangina. Rowan 4 ply cotton in flirty. so I can I be like Megan and make it a Flirtina instead?
cable sweater is coming along. Chrissy answered my latest help I don't understand question and discovered that what it's telling me to do I already did once on my sock!
I love it when stuff like that happens. plus this will remind my brain for the sock when I pick up #2.
my sox are losing right now and it bums me out terribly.
and my cell is ringing.

obligatory welcome

so this is my new blog! created mostly for the sexy knitting club's knit alongs and possibly for more knitting related posts as my LJ is getting sort of full of that kind of thing.
those of you who know me know my undying love for america's past time (esp my home town red sox) and my newfound (sort of?) obsession of knitting.
this will attempt to do both.
we'll see how it goes. right?
so I'm hopefully going to start the orangina soon, since I think I've finally made a yarn decision.
I think....
like I said... we'll see!!
